(NOTE:
This F.A.Q. is from the spring of '96)
For more F.A.Q.
fun, visit the F.A.Q section of the official Descendents
website here.
Why
are you playing as The Descendents again?
Milo
got bored of just being in the lab all the time and wanted to play
music again, which seemed like a fun idea to us since he is a very
close friend of the band (and Bill's best friend) but we already have
Chad as "ALL's" singer, so what we decided to do is have 2 bands -
to have Milo sing for the Descendents and Chad sing for ALL. That
way everbody gets to participate, sort of a family effort.
Does
ALL still exist?
Yes,
there will be a new ALL album later this year. We wil start recording
in September.
Why
did you leave Interscope?
They
did a poor job promoting Pummel. Both Descendents and ALL are now
on Epitaph.
Why
didn't you go back to SST?
We
made 15 records with SST/Cruz. They are a great label and they're
like family to us. We just wanted to try something different; no big
deal.
Why
are you on Epitaph?
They
are the label that seemed the most into our band, and the most qualified
to do a good job.
What
is Chad doing while you guys are Descendents?
He
and Jon Snodgrass from "Armchair Martian" have been recording some
music here at "The Blasting Room". Sort of country inflenced punk.
Chad has also been playing in Armchair Martian, whose album is out
this week on cargo.
Where
are Scott Reynolds and Dave Smalley? Do you guys still talk?
Scott
lives in New York with his wife. He has a band called Goodbye Harry
on Cruz Records. We talk to Scott pretty often. Dave lives in L.A.
and has a band on Epitaph called Down By Law, we keep in fairly close
contact with Dave and his wife, Caroline.
Do
you know where we can get bootleg copies?
No.
And we suggest that you don't support bootlegs either. Aside from
the monetary issue (i.e. some third party making money from our efforts
without paying us anything) there is the real issue at hand - the
fact that they have embarrased us publicly by releasing a piece or
pieces of work that we did not intend for people to hear. Usually
when we don't release something, it's for the simple reason that we
think it sucks and don't want anyone to hear it. Bootleg is similar
to rape.
Why
did Milo leave the band both times?
In
1983 to go to college, and in 1987 to go back to school, eventually
leading to a doctorate degree in biochemistry.
Is
this Descendents album a one time thing? What are future plans for
both bands?
No,
there will be more Descendents and ALL albums and tours in the future.
